Who we work with
Laura system is a cognitive robot and risk manager that acts in the early identification of clinical deterioration risks. Laura’s main objective is the early detection of a clinical deterioration prone to demise, with the goal of reducing mortality and hospital services costs by the means of predictive analysis. It was built between 2016 and 2017 through more than 8.6 millions of visits in 40 clinic and hospital centers in several Brazilian states.
This audit doesn’t just address the algorithmic justice in the automated processing model, it also entails a desirability, acceptability and data management evaluation of the mentioned system, as well as an analysis of the personal data treatment. The study reveals the results of these analyzes upon the basis of the model description as well as an analysis of the social framework of implantation. The algorithmic audit of Laura has focused in exploring possible risks of bias and in algorithmic discrimination in the results offered by the system and translated effectively in clinical interventions by the hospital staff.
